Project Overview

Students enrolled in Rivendell Academy's Survival Summer program look at survival from a variety of angles.  Most literally, students will enter the woods to create survival camps including survival structures, solar ovens, water catchment systems, and more.  Inside the classroom, students will look at effective communication and problem solving as survival skills.
In math, students will work on Math Forum problems designed to challenge their skills and increase their ability to communicate about their thinking.  In language arts, students will create blogs about their experiences using the Writer's Express method.  Student's will read Elie Wiesel's "Night" and discuss the variety of survival responses to extreme circumstances.
